Amaravathi ..the capital city formation..

The new capital is named after the historic site of Amaravati, known as the centre of Buddhist culture, that flourished from 400 BC to 1100 AD and has a glorious historical, political, archaeological, religious and cultural past, the once capital city of the Satavahana kings become the new capital city of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh after 18 centuries.

On March 2015 Chandra babu named AP’s new capital as Amaravati, the People’s capital of Andhra Pradesh, which is envisioned to be a city of world-class standards with a vision of increasing Andhra Pradesh’s prominence in the world.

This is the first time ever that a capital city is being constructed in the country on parcels of land that is mobilized by  the belief in Chandra Babu Naidu who convinced farmers  under the land-pooling concept which is about 30,000 acres of prime agricultural land abutting the river Krishna in Vijayawada-Guntur region wherein the owners get a share of  almost 30% of their pooled farmland as expensive city land.

The foundation stone for the planned city was laid on 22 October 2015, at Uddandarayunipalem area by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
