Durga Puja, also called Durgotsava is a multi-day festival (9 days) signifies the goddess Durgamma emerging victory over buffalo demon Mahishasura thus Vijayadashami epitomises the victory of good over evil , and victory of Rama is marked.
Dasara Sharan Navaratri utsavalu will start from Oct 10th with Kalasa Sthapana pooja and ends on Oct 18th with Sri Rajarajeshwari Devi Alankaram(shape-shifting).
As per Hindu tradition, devotees wear dresses that represent the colors of Navaratri on each of the 9 days based on the Devi Alankaram. List of Alankarams for this festival season are as below at durgamma temple.
Temple timings: On Oct 10th, temple opens at 8AM after snapanam. Remaining days from 3AM to 11PM. On Oct 15th from 2AM to 11PM.
On October 15 (Moola Nakshatram),CM N Chandrababu Naidu will offer silk Clothes to the deity for the good welfare of the State and people during 4pm to 5pm.
Temple offers free bus service from Vijayawada railway station, bus station and other stops like bathing ghats and the Vinayaka temple. for senior citizens and physically challenged buses are operated from Ashoka Pillar to Indrakeeladri temple.
